BIO:
Hought grew up in Clayton (Thousand Islands) New York.Grandson of a carpenter, son of a beekeeper and wood carver, he attended Cornell Mechanical Engineering School and was a jet pilot in the Navy.Retiring from IBM after some 36 years, Hought now enjoys turning artistic and functional objects in his garage/workshop in Marietta, GA.He is a member of the American Association of Woodturners, the Georgia Association of Woodturners, and the Atlanta Woodturners Guild.
He scavengeswood that has fallen from hurricanes, tornadoes, development, shipwrecks, and natural causes.His wood comes from the Eastern States - ranging from oak timbers raised from the bottom of the St Lawrence River to logs cast ashore on the Florida Keys.
He particularly enjoys turning a piece fora customer who's tree has come down, enabling the memory of that tree to live on in the family - for generations.
Hought's work can be found in galleries, on his website, or at an art show. His workincludes bowls, platters, urns, vases, hollow vessels, plates, bottle stoppers, pens, boxes, pepper mills, etc.He also enjoys custom work.
